Robert G. "Bobby" Farmer Jr.

Robert G. Bobby Farmer, Jr., 70, died Jan. 4, 2021, at his home in Viola, Kansas.

Graveside services 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, in Viola Cemetery.

Bobby was born on Aug. 5, 1950, at Wilson, North Carolina and was the son of Robert Gene Farmer Sr. and Wanda (Means) Farmer. Bobby grew up on the family farm northwest of Viola. He attended Conway Springs public schools and graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1968. Bobby continued his education at Sterling College and Southwestern College, Winfield.

Bobby was united in marriage to Roxann Elizabeth Higgins April 3, 1976, in Conway Springs and to this union four daughters were born: Sabrina, Lyndsay, Chelsea and Mallory. The family made their home in the Conway Springs and Viola community where Bobby farmed most of his life.

Bobby entered the Kansas Air National Guard in 1972 and was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. working as a computer technician. He retired in 1998 as a civilian after 20 years.

Bobby later married Deana Sue (Ayers) Earwood on Sept. 23, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Conway Springs. They made their home in Viola.

Bobby was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church and the Viola Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his father Jan. 2, 2013.

Bobby is survived by his wife Deana Farmer of Viola,; four daughters: Sabrina Hall, Lyndsay Underwood and Mallory Farmer all of Wichita; Chelsea Smith of Beloit; one son Drake Farmer of Belle Plaine; his mother Wanda Farmer of Viola; one sister Janet Warren and husband Charles of Salina; one brother Bradley Farmer and wife Shirley of Viola; nine grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
