Markus Kalman Madacs

Retired Master Sgt. Markus Kalman Madacs, 52, passed away March 22, 2019. He was born March 18, 1967, in Landstuhl, Germany, to Kalman and Waltrud Madacs.He migrated to the United States at the age of 5. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1982 and enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard. Madacs was the first sergeant in Battery C, 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery when they deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Amy; mother, Waltrud Madacs; sister, Birgitte Londene; children, Benjamin M. Madacs, Rachel M. Madacs-Johnson, and Alex Q. Madacs; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Thomas. Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Armory building in Abilene. Memorials to the Armory Building, in care of Martin Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene.
