Kelly Ryan Edwards, 28, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on July 22, 2018. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 5 to 7:00 pm. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project: PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. Contributions may also be made online at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/ Kelly was born on September 8, 1989, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to Kevin and Kimberly (Bennett) Edwards. He joined the United States Army and proudly served for over eight years as a cannon crew member. He later joined the Kansas Army National Guard and wasan assistant gunner with Battery B, 1st Battalion, 161st Field Artillery. His military awards and decorations include the Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Unit Commendation with oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal with oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with oak leaf cluster, the Combat Action Badge and other awards. He will be dearly missed. Kelly is survived by his loving family: wife Crystal, daughter Mikynzie, and son Jaxyn of Junction City; his father Kevin and wife Milly Edwards, Cookeville, Tennessee; his mother Kimberly and husband J.B. Dyer, Cookeville; his brother, Kacy Edwards, Cookeville; best friends Deven Morris, Cookeville, and Joe Lusk of Junction City; and a host of loving extended family and friends.
