Harold Danny Taylor, known to his family and friends as Dan, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones, on July 21, 2018, at the age of 71. He was born on Feb 1, 1947 in Beloit, Kansas, to Harold and Wanda Taylor. He was the second of their six children. His parents raised their family in Glen Elder, Kansas, before moving to Abilene, Kansas, in 1956. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1965. He served in the National Guard for six years following his graduation. After high school he married the love of his life, Cleovon Hoover Taylor, on Feb 5, 1966, at Enterprise Methodist Church in Enterprise, Kansas. Dan and Cleo were married for 52 wonderful years. They had children Troy Taylor of Abilene and Wanda Smith of Wichita. Dan was a very hard working man who knew the importance of providing for his family. The dedication and love he had for his family was immeasurable. Family gatherings of all sizes were his truest joy. His family remained his absolute first priority even up to his final days. He enjoyed making people laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. He also enjoyed playing baseball, golfing, and fishing on the river. He loved a good competition and took a great deal of pride in his annual garden. He is survived by his wife Cleo Taylor of Salina, siblings Donna and Kenny Strauss of Enterprise, KS, Van and Wava Taylor of Abilene, KS, Marla and Bob Jeffery of Bennington, KS, Craig and Kathy Taylor of Pearland, TX, and Debbie Prater of Lenexa, KS., son Troy Taylor and Sarah Canfield of Abilene and his children, Syndey, Nichole, Tray, Tyce, and Taydyn, daughter Wanda and Jared Smith of Wichita and her children, Shania, Shelby, and Dalton. He was also adored by his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Harold Udale Taylor, mother Wanda (Gish) Taylor, and his two beloved rat terriers Dude and Jake. A memorial celebration will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 11, 2018, in the memorial hall at the American Legion in Chapman, Kansas, from 2 to 5 p.m. Instead of flowers or gifts, the family requests that all donations be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital in honor of Dan Taylor. www.stjude.org.
