Soldiers of the Kansas National Guards 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation Regiment will be honored in a departure ceremony Thursday, June 14. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka. Doors open at 9 a.m. The public is welcome to attend. The 1-108th is headquartered in Topeka with elements also stationed in Salina. These Soldiers will deploy as part of the 35th Combat Aviation Brigade for a Multifunctional Aviation Task Force in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve. Their mission will be to provide air movement, air assault, and aeromedical evacuation support operations in the joint area of operations.
