Col (R) Donald McEachern

Donald W. McEachern, Ret. Col. USAF, 90, Valley Falls, formerly of Hermann, MO, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at a Topeka hospital. He was born April 9, 1927, at Perth, the son of William and Hazel C. Wilson. He graduated from Wichita State University and Kelly Air Force Base. Don served for 33 years, first in the US Air Force and then in the Kansas Air National Guard. He flew 100 combat missions in Korea, and was also stationed in Japan, Okinawa, the Philippines, and many US bases. He was a Command Pilot and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He married Donna E. Hawkins, Sept. 17, 1951, at Wichita. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Martin, Ralph, Raymond, Delbert and Clifford McEachern, and a sister, Clora Walker. Survivors include his wife, Donna, of the home; four daughters, Tena Santaularia, Lawrence, Camille (Mike) Jones, Valley Falls, Lorrie McEachern, Prairie Village, and Andrea (Tony Terillo) Perelman, Saint Augustine, FL; a brother, Harold McEachern, Ft. Myers, FL; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Private inurnment will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery at a later date.
