Joseph Mearle “Joe” Parks

Retired Senior Master Sgt. Joseph Mearle “Joe” Parks, 77, Topeka, Kansas, passed away Nov. 9, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Joe was born in Marion, Indiana, June 3, 1944, to Lawrence and Barbara Eymer Parks. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He retired as a senior master sergeant from the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Operations Group Combat Communications.
Joe’s favorite pastimes included classic vehicles, golf, bowling and working in his garage. On Dec. 19, 1990, Joe and Beverly Burghart were united in marriage, enjoying 30 years together.
Survivors include his wife, Bev; son Christopher Parks, Ohio; bonus children, Shannon Hoss (Steve), Topeka; and Jeffrey Desch, Florida; grandson Elijah Parks, Ohio; bonus grandchildren Nicole Hoss and Tyler Hoss (Amanda), Topeka; bonus great-grandson Mason Hoss, Topeka; brothers David Parks (Beverly) and James Parks (Pam) of Indiana; and nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marlin Rook.
Memorial service will be Nov. 15, 10 a.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, sent in care of the funeral home.
