Kansas Army National Guard unit will host open house at Emporia armory Nov. 5

Soldiers of Company A, 1st Battalion, 635th Armor Regiment, Kansas Army National Guard, cordially invite the public to an open house at the Emporia armory, 1809 Merchant St., Nov. 5, 2021, from 1 to 6 p.m.
An M1A2 Abrams tank and two Humvees will be on static display for up-close, hands-on viewing. The ACOFT (Abrams Conduct of Fire) tank gunnery simulator will be open to demonstrate how tank crewmen operate the most lethal tank in the world.
A selection of military weapons and equipment will also be on display. The Recruiting and Retention Battalion will be at the armory with a 40-foot climbing wall and information on the benefits of becoming a Soldier in the Kansas Army National Guard. Guardsmen will be on hand to share the unit’s recent experiences at the National Training Center and their most recent deployment, along with the long and rich history of the KSARNG in Emporia.
