Woodie L. Boyette

Woodie L. Boyette, 90, Topeka, passed away June 20, 2021, at his daughter’s home with family by his side. He was born April 24, 1931, in Hamilton, Alabama, the son of Howard and Effie L. (Smith) Boyette.
Woodie was a proud member of the United States Air Force. He retired as a jet engine technician sergeant after serving 14 years on active duty Forbes Field in Topeka for the 90th B-47 Bomb Wing. He also served eight years with the Kansas Air National Guard’s 190th Air Refueling Wing.
Woodie worked for Goodyear Tire Company, retiring after 25 years.
He married Darlene G. King Dec. 7, 1951, in Topeka. She preceded him in death April 4, 2017. They celebrated over 65 years of marriage.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Parker and brothers Woodrow, Hank and Howard, Jr. Boyette.
Survivors include his children, Philip Boyette of Topeka, Paul Boyette of Spring Hill, Pat Compton (Stan) of Topeka, Pam Compton (Daryl) of Topeka, Paula Fox (James) of Topeka, and Page Lollman (Mike) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. June 25 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial with military honors, conducted by Grahem-Herbers V.F.W. Post 3084, will follow at Ozawkie Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
