David Lee Loving, 78, of Lawrence and formerly of Oskaloosa, died March 25, 2021, at the Monterey Village Arbors Unit in Lawrence. He was born May 13, 1942 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Raymond H. And Lena May Rhodes Loving.
David was a 1961 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and attended Highland Community College. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving 1962 to 1966 and later served in the Kansas Air National Guard.
David worked 36 years as an electrical maintenance man for Hallmark Cards Co. in Kansas City, Missouri, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Lawrence Community of Christ and served as a board member for Oskaloosa Rural Housing Development, The Center Place, Inc. of Oskaloosa and also served one term as an Oskaloosa city councilman. He was a member of the Lawrence Parkinsons Support Group.
He was married to Linda M. Licata on May 25, 1968, in Independence, Missouri; she survives at home. He is survived by two sons, Brian Lee (Jill) Loving, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Galen Scott (Kathryn) Loving, Berkeley, California; daughter Angela (Sam Abadir) Loving, Olathe; four grandchildren, Leo Loving, Victoria, British Columbia; Clark Loving and Clara Loving, Berkeley; and Parker Davis, Lawrence. He was preceded in death by one son, Jason Loving, in 2002.
Cremation Care is planned. Memorial Services are pending at this time and will be scheduled at a later date. Inurnment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Memorials suggested to Douglas County Visiting Nurses and Hospice or to The Parkinsons Foundation in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home/Jefferson County Crematory, P.O.
