Retired Brig. Gen. William S. Mahler, 88, of Daytona Beach Shores, passed away Dec. 30, 2020, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
He was born Oct. 27, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Will and Josephine (Stiles) Mahler. Mahler was a pilot and a former commander of the 190th Air Refueling Wing as the unit converted from the B-57 to the KC-135 aircraft. He was later promoted to brigadier general before his retirement in the early 1980s. William retired from the United States Air Force as a general officer after 29 years of dedicated service.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Marlys Mahler; daughter, Susan (George) Cockerham; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida, Jan. 15 2021.
