Retired Chief Master Sgt. Barrett Lynn Knoll

Retired Chief Master Sgt. Barrett Lynn Knoll, 84, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was receded in death by his wife Doris Knoll, parents Porter and Kathryn Knoll, brother Lee Knoll, infant granddaughter Rachel Knoll and grandson Taylor Knoll.

Lynn retired in 1985 from the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Forbes Field, Topeka, as a chief master sergeant, the highest noncommissioned officer rank in the AIr National Guard . Better known as Chief to his unit, Lynn was one they could count on in and outside the workplace. Many stories were shared with his sons at the retirement of his personal attention and caring for those under his command. Lynn retired to Las Vegas, but returned to Kansas to be closer to family.

Lynn enjoyed his days at many golf courses in Kansas with his friends and family. He achieved his boyhood dream of building and flying his own airplane in 2016. The remaining years of his life were devoted to his trusty plane, The Rockridge Rocket, his trusty dogs Heidi, Peaches, and Piper, and his dearest love/special gal Billie.

Lynn joined a spiritual program of recovery and lived a life of sobriety for 26 years. He was a mentor to many in recovery and was blessed to die sober I love sobriety!!!"

Lynn is survived by sons Kevin (Lynne) of Augusta, Steve (Renee) of Wichita, Jeff (Kristin) of Wichita, granddaughter Mary Abigail (Delaware), grandson Konner Derek (Wichita), granddaughter Kayla Ann (Wichita) and great-granddaughter Ava Jayne Knoll (Wichita).

Services are pending. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made in Lynn's honor to the Kansas Aviation Museum,  3350 George Washington Boulevard, Wichita, KS 67210.
