19-068 Adjutant General's Army Physical Fitness Competition set for Oct. 20

Oct. 14, 2019 | By slarson

The Adjutant Generals Department will host its annual Army Physical Fitness Competition Sunday, Oct. 20, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Officer Candidate School, 1901 Sutherland Road in Salina. This is the last such competition before the Army transitions to the Army Combat Fitness Test, which, in addition to push-ups and a two-mile run, will incorporate a three-repetition dead-weight lift, standing power throw, leg tuck on a high bar, and a sprint-drag-carry event.

This is an opportunity for all soldiers, airmen and civilian physical fitness enthusiasts of all ages to test their mettle against their peers in a friendly competition. All entrants will be tested and scored on time tests to see how many push-ups and sit-ups they can do in two minutes, followed by a timed two-mile run or two and a half mile walk.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, the top three overall individual scores and the top three scores in each event. Awards will also be given to the top three scores for ages 12-16 and age 11 and under. Every entrant will receive a free T-shirt and nonparticipants will be able to enjoy military displays and inflatables.

Registration is free and may be done online at www.eventbrite.com; search for The Adjutant Generals Army Physical Fitness Competition. Civilians will sign a waiver prior to participating. Registration may also be done the day of the event.
