William F. "Bill" Roets Sr.

William F. Bill Roets Sr., 81, Salina, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2019. He was born Aug. 6, 1937, in Wichita, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Gleeson) Roets. Bill worked as a parts clerk for Schwans Trucking for more than 20 years. He retired from the Kansas National Guard with more than 20 years of service. Bill volunteered as an usher and eucharistic minister at his church and he was also a hospice volunteer. He enjoyed being with family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include: daughter, Liz Berg; sisters, Lou DeThample, and Margie Hand (Guyle); grandchildren, D.J., Shanon, Kristina, Hannah, Michele, and Lyndsi; many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barbara Roets; sisters-in-law, Sue Roets, and Charlotte Roets; and brother-in-law, Jim Dalton. Bill was preceded in death by: his wife, LeNora; daughters, Mary Ann, and Lee; son, William F. Jr.; brothers, Dick, Gene, and Joseph; sisters, Geraldine Dalton, and Lois Corey; and son-in-law, Phil Berg. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb 1, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with vigil service at 7. Family will greet visitors 6-8. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with burial following in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Solomon.
