Rollin E. Sump

Rollin Ernest Sump, 80, passed away July 25, 2018, at home. He was born Feb. 12, 1938, at home near May Day to Norman and Ernestine (Rundle) Sump. He grew up on the family farm in the Green community and graduated from Green High School in 1956. He was born a farmer and died a farmer. He served in the Army National Guard for eight years with Company D, 137th Infantry and Company B 891st Engineer Battalion. He also worked building Milford Dam, painted houses, and graded roads in Blaine and Chapman Townships when he wasnt working on his farm. He was awarded the Kansas Bankers Soil Conservation Award in 1980. In 1963, he married Brenda Jenkins, and later divorced. He married Patricia Faith Breer, Feb. 20, 1988, and later renewed their wedding vows, May 6, 1994. The lived on their farm near Industry until moving to their home near Manchester. Survivors include: his wife, Faith of Manchester; son, Kevin Sump of Clay Center; daughter, Machelle Bohanan (Chang) of Salina; grandson, Niklas Bohanan of Salina; granddaughters, Breeana Bohanan, and Alina Bohanan both of Salina; ex-wife, Brenda Sump of Clay Center; and sisters, Norma Dupus of Hoyt, and Carole Wichman of Green. He was preceded in death by parents, sister Janet Long and brother-in-law Philip Long. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Mrs. Rollin Sumps home, 3109 Camp Rd., Manchester, with family greeting friends from 4-7. After visitation, Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, Riley, will handle the cremation.
