Robert Joseph Decker

Retired 1st Sgt. Robert Joseph Decker, 85, Burlington, died July 1, 2018, at the Coffey County Hospital. Bob was born on July 8, 1932, in Burlington, to Arthur and Sadie Marie Giffin Decker. Bob grew up in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School in 1950. Bob retired from the Army after 43 years. He worked in construction. Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burlington, and the American Legion Post #38. Bob married Virginia Phillips and they were the parents of four children. They were later divorced. He then married retired Spc. Justina Burnett Wright , on February 20, 1993, at Coffeyville. Bob was preceded in death by his son, Terry Decker, and a brother, Edward Decker. Bob is survived by his wife, Justina, of the home, two sons, Robert (Betty) Decker, Wichita, and Dennis (Kathy) Decker, Fond Du lac, WI, three daughters, Julie (Doug) Jensen, El Dorado, Shylonda Wright, and Tawny Decker and fianc Kevin Johnson, all of Burlington, two brothers, Paul (Dorothy) Decker, Coffeyville, and Roy (Marilyn) Decker, Centennial, CO, a sister Artis Knowles, Hesston, Twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. There will be a Memorial Service, on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 6 P.M., at the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington.
