Retired Staff Sgt. Carl W. Davis, 79, of Junction City has transitioned onto his new journey. He passed at Geary Community Hospital on April 30, 2018. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City, KS 66441. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials have been designated to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Carl was born February 21, 1939, Oakland, CA to James Wesley and Hazel May (Peterson) Davis. Carl served in the United States Army and retired as a Staff Sergeant August 31, 1977. He then worked for USD 475 as a custodian and retired August 6, 2013. Carl was an avid fan of television. He loved to watch M*A*S*H and old western movies. He had a love for jigsaw puzzles, cookies and ice cream and peanut butter and jelly, and his daily routine of coffee and sandwiches at subway, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Catalina of Junction City; his five children, Jose' and wife Jackie Davis of Shawnee, Kansas, Carolina and husband Jamie Shaw of San Pedro, California, John Michael Davis of Topeka, Kansas, Teresa and husband Mac Perrin of Chapman, Kansas, and Christine and husband Jeff Winchell of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Tori Davis, Kayla Galloway, Kelsey Galloway, Jamie Rogers, Kevin Davis Kitchens, Avery Winchell and Rileigh Winchell; four great-grandchildren, Ariyeh Green, Roman Wesley Wadford, BryElla and Kingston Guzman; and sister Vickie and husband Steve Langhal of Windsor, California. He was preceded in death by his parents James Wesley Davis and Hazel May Peterson, one brother Harold Davis, and his great-grandsons, Andrew Rogers and Bryson Dill.
