William E. Abrams

William E. Abrams, 72, of Salina, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018. He was born Nov. 18, 1945, in Wichita, to William and Virginia (Gabelman) Abrams. He married Janet R. Buchenau, May 2, 2003. Bill was a former member of Co B 2-635th Armor After graduating Salina Central High School, Bill joined the United States Army in Sept. 1965 and discharged in Aug. 1968. Upon completing his service in the Army, he joined the National Guard and retired after 37 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1432, American Legion Post 62, and Eagle Lodge. He held office in all of them at one time. He was an auto mechanic and worked in the oil field. Bill enjoyed cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs and KSU Wildcats. He loved any team that Jamie was coaching or any sport the grandchildren and nephews participated in. He was a wonderful family man who would do anything for them. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Janet, of the home; children, William L. Abrams, Denese Edwards (Jody) all of Great Bend, Elizabeth Davis (Aaron) of Wetmore, Colo.; Jamie Cruce (Amy) of Pratt, Stephanie Brown-Silmon, Leslie Clayton (Eric) all of Salina; sister, Alta Scheibler of Bennington; grandchildren, Andrew, Leif, Saline, Dylan, Nicole, Jeremiah, Skyler, Shay, Kiarra, Diondra, Amanda, Megan, Nickolas, Dillon, Ava, Austin and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Layne, Paiyton, Camryn, Xayla, Jayah, and Ryker. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister-in-law, Colleen Carrell; brother-in-law, Richard Scheibler. Funeral service were on April 3, 2018, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N.
