Kansas National Guard soldiers who died while serving during the War on Terror will be recognized April 7 to June 5 during the America's Run for the Fallen (http://runforthefallen.org/) America's Run for the Fallen is a nationwide relay foot run in tribute to every military service member who has died while serving or as a result of serving during the War on Terror since Oct. 12, 2000. The run covers more than 6,000 miles in 19 states and honors for nearly 20,000 service members.' The run began on April 7 in Fort Irwin, California, and ends Aug. 5 in Arlington National Cemetery. The run will come through Kansas from May 31 to June 5.' ] Date of death: 11/08/2004 Hometown: Atchison, Kansas Mile 3 of Day 30, Overall Mile: 1,342, State: New Mexico Estimated Time of Arrival: 05/06/2018 at 7:36 a.m. Sgt. 1st Class Clinton Lee Wisdom, Atchison, Kansas, 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery, was killed Nov. 8, 2004, in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom, while serving as a member of a personal security detail for a convoy that included the head of the Iraq Survey Group and several Defense Intelligence Agency analysts.' When a vehicle driven by insurgents charged the convoy, Wisdom was killed when the suicide bomber detonated his vehicle-born improvised explosive device.' Because of his actions, none of the members of the ISG were seriously harmed.

] killed in action south of Baghdad, Iraq, on May 1, 2005. Lutters was killed when the vehicle he was riding in was attacked by a suicide bomber with a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device.' Lutters was assigned as a Gunner in one of the three vehicles performing a bridge and road reconnaissance mission.
Sgt. Jessie Davila Date of Death: 02/20/2006 Hometown: Greensburg, Kansas Mile 4 of Day 39, Overall Mile: 1,798, State: New Mexico Estimated Time of Arrival: 05/15/2018 at 7:48 a.m. Davila, a member of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 137th Infantry, Kansas National Guard, was killed in action in Iraq on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006. Davila, 29, a resident of Greensburg, Kansas, died when a vehicle borne improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle.
Master Sgt.' Bernard Lee Deghand Date of Death: 09/15/2006 Hometown: Mayetta, Kansas Mile 52 of Day 43, Overall Mile: 2,001, State: Texas Estimated Time of Arrival: 05/19/2018 at 5:24 p.m.
] Deghand, 42, a resident of Mayetta, Kansas, and a member of the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 35th Division Artillery Embedded Training Team, Kansas National Guard, was killed in action in Afghanistan on Sept. 15, 2006. Deghand died as a result of small arms fire while conducting combat operations as part of Operation Mountain Fury.
Spc. John Edward Wood Date of Death: 10/07/2006 Hometown: Humboldt, Kansas Mile 22 of Day 45, Overall Mile: 2,023, State: Texas Estimated Time of Arrival: 05/21/2018 at 11:24 a.m. Wood, 37, a resident of Humboldt, Kansas, and a member of Detachment 1, Headquarters Support Company, 891st Engineer Battalion, Kansas National Guard, Garnett, was killed in action in Iraq on Oct. 7, 2006. Wood was attached to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 110th Engineer Battalion, Missouri National Guard, Kansas City, Missouri.

] Date of Death: 02/22/2007 Hometown: Wichita, Kansas Mile 48 of Day 47, Overall Mile: 2,156, State: Oklahoma Estimated Time of Arrival: 05/23/2018 at 4:36 p.m. Berry, 37, a resident of Wichita, Kansas, and a member of Battery B (-), 1st Battalion, 161st Field Artillery, Kansas National Guard, Pratt, was killed in action in Iraq on Feb. 22, 2007.' Berry died when he was struck by an improvised explosive device.

Bachman deployed to Iraq with the 714th Security Forces in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
