Task Force Broncbuster hosted a Real Men, Real Leaders event Jan. 9 at the Kansas National Guard Readiness Center in Garden City. Real Men, Real Leaders is a mentor program for fifth and sixth graders designed to instill good values and teach life skills to future leaders of the community. The children arrived at 4 p.m. and participated in 10 minutes of calisthenics before starting the meeting. The topics for the event were the history, proper care and display of our nation's flag. Sgt. 1st Class Frank Garcia and Sgt. 1st Class Jeromy Fisher held an open discussion with the children about freedom of speech and protesting the flag. The meeting concluded with the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Task Force Broncbuster is an ongoing partnership between Garden City Community College and the Kansas National Guard.
