President Donald Trump has approved federal disaster assistance to Johnson and Wyandotte Counties to supplement state and local recovery efforts in areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding from July 22 to July 27. We appreciate the assistance and support from President Trump and the administration, said Gov. Sam Brownback. We look forward to full recovery from the damage caused by last summer's storms and straight line winds in the Johnson County metro area. Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding. Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
