Thirty-seven Kansas veterans of World War II and the Korean War, bound for Washington D.C. as part of an Honor Flight, were greeted by members of the Kansas National Guard and Governor Sam Brownback during a visit to the state Capitol on June 15. Honor flights are conducted by non-profit organizations to transport as many United States military veterans as possible to see the national war memorials in Washington, D.C. at no cost to the veterans. The event is coordinated by State Sen. Elaine Bowers.
